As soon as I stepped inside the house, I felt an immediate drop in temperature, a stark contrast to the heat outside. I marveled at how cool it was indoors, realizing that the thick stone walls were insulating the space and keeping the heat out. I couldn’t help but wonder how cozy it would feel during the winters, with these same walls trapping warmth inside.
I opened the full-size windows on the north-west side to let the breeze flow through, filling the house with fresh air and helping to naturally ventilate every corner. With every opening in the house welcoming the cool breeze, the atmosphere became pleasantly refreshing, especially in the bedrooms and living room. One bedroom bathed in direct morning sunlight from the sout side , staying bright and cheerful all day, while the other embraced more wind and less direct sunlight from the north side, offering a cooler, shaded retreat.
The dining area, strategically placed near a window, remained naturally cool throughout the day. The chajja, equipped with sun shading devices, prevented harsh sunlight from entering during the summer, while the roof featured openable shutters that allowed the breeze from the northwest to circulate freely.
Every detail in this house was designed to create a harmonious balance with the environment, ensuring comfort and tranquility in every season.
